Role of Social Mobile Apps in coming General Election 2014

India is ready for General Elections, it will merely takes 4-5 months, But this time elections will be different from others.

Results of latest 5 states elections clearly indicated the mood of voter, they want to shift from old model of politics to new one which should be more interactive, energetic and transparent.

And the increasing voting percentage shows the involvement of youth, which is healthy indication for democracy and country.

This time there are around 12 crore first time voters, voters from age group of 19-23 and voters from urban & suburban areas will  play significant role.

Connection between Young Indians and Social Mobile Apps:

I am using “Social Mobile Apps” knowingly in place of “Social networking sites” and reason behind this is that  these apps are more personal and provide more real life like conversations among different groups of friends.

There are still massive reasons, why present generation is getting glued more with social mobile apps like WeChat, WhatsApp, Line etc, because these apps provide a lot more than chatting, like VoiceChat, Group Chat, Video Call, Emotions,Stickers, Moments, Location based chats etc.

WeChat, from China’s web giants Tencent,  is a new and powerful mobile communication tool, is growing storming (amongst teenagers around 1021%) worldwide according to Globalwebindex, and is also emerged as one of the top social mobile app in India.

So the role of these apps can’t be ignored with respect to communication tools, as they have become an inseparable part of life.

How Social Mobile Apps like WeChat play a significant role in coming Elections?

I have chosen WeChat, and have reasons for that, it is more than a chatting or messaging application with support of  voice, video, photo and text messages. And works on Android, Windows Phone, Symbian, iOS and BlackBerry devices.

You may have a little curiosity, that why I am urging for Social Mobile Apps like WeChat over Facebook or other social networking sites, reasons behind this are below:

  • Nowadays, Facebook or any social networking site, by its nature are, filled with many biased political groups, which dynamically pour you with their status, pictures, events, debates, whereas social apps are different, you have all contacts that you are friends with in real life.
  • Social apps are content creators, whereas Social networking sites are just spreader or broadcaster.
  • Many modern era’s revolutions against corrupt and oppressive regimes are first started from social mobile apps, then spread over social sites, examples are Iran, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Turkey and even Anna Hazare’s movement.
  • Social Mobile Apps are more easily accessible and convenient than social networking sites, even though they also have their apps.

Now..

Why it is necessary for Young India to involve in coming elections?

Simply said by Mahatma Gandhi,

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

This saying very much true, if we criticise our government, policies, laws and want to see changes, then surely we have to involve in it.

And if you think, what would happen if I do not vote, it is just a single vote, and then think, there is nothing “no voting” like thing, it doubles the other side, and they again win.

At last, there is very well suited quote by Theodore Roosevelt

“A vote is like a rifle: its usefulness depends upon the character of the user.”

So, if you want to see changes then you must vote for changes and vote for India.

And at the End, I have summarise some great features of WeChat at glance, which makes it a great weapon of Young India.

(How to take a screenshot in Windows ?)

MS paint, Winword, Excel etc.,
